When Love Was Young

There may be no tomorrow like yesterday,
When love was young with no sins to confess,
The days ahead no longer here to stay

Where no is not an answer but a play
Beneath the sheets. No muting soft caress.
There may be no tomorrow like yesterday.

Robust beauty in motion, no time to prey
Sleeplessly silent, no time for uneasiness,
The days ahead no longer here to stay.

In urgency of passion, no delay,
No breath, not a moment to digress,
There may be no tomorrow like yesterday.

No reflection, bodies in disarray,
Exalting, weeping, limp, no more, no less,
The days ahead no longer here to stay.

A glint of eye that no great love betray
Of youth, no answer more profound than “yes.”
There may be no tomorrow like yesterday,
The days ahead no longer here to stay.
