Martin Luther King Jr. Gazebo

This page is part of my 1999 entry for an international competition for the design of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington, DC.

After completing the walk along the Marching Wall and reading the plaques commemorating historic events during Dr. King's profound nonviolent struggle toward freedom and equality, you enter the King Gazebo.

To your right (and to your astonishment and delight), you'll find a life-size bronze statue of a casual Martin, resting on a gazebo bench, welcoming you to have a seat after a long, but visionary, march.
