Martin Luther King Jr. Chapel

This watercolor illustration is part of my 1999 entry for an international competition for the design of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington, DC.

This view is from the MLK monument looking directly toward the Jefferson Memorial on the horizon of the Tidal Basin. The outdoor chapel is in direct line with the distant vista. It may be interesting to note that if you are standing at the Jefferson Memorial, looking through the MLK monument, you would be in direct line with the Lincoln Memorial. A powerful line of connected visions.
